Jharkhand does pay a large subsidy on a tractor, but through its own scheme, the Mukhyamantri Tractor Vitran Yojana, and not through an online portal that the reports name. The state pays 50 percent on a large tractor and 80 percent on implements bought with it, inside a package of ₹10 lakh, and the subsidy is capped at ₹5 lakh per beneficiary. The scheme restarted in June 2025 after two years. No new application window is published at present.
The scheme gives priority to farmers and groups with 10 acres or more and a driving licence. A farmer with less land should read the group scheme and the national norm below. National rules are on the tractor subsidy page.
Scheme names and who runs them
- Mukhyamantri Tractor Vitran Yojana (Chief Minister Tractor Distribution Scheme), run by the state Agriculture Department. CMV360 names the Jharkhand Agriculture Machinery Tools Training Centre as the managing authority.
- Krishi Yantrikaran Yojana: a separate state scheme that gives mini tractors, power tillers and self-propelled reapers to women's self-help groups, Sakhi Mandals and farmer groups.
- No online portal: the reports describe paper forms at district offices. Whether a portal exists for this scheme is not stated.

Reports differ on scale. AajTak, in 2024, gave a first phase of ₹80 crore for over 1,100 tractors across two years, with Deoghar and Dumka first. CMV360 reports 4,000 tractors and over 1,000 implements on ₹150 crore, split into 2,450 large and 1,550 small tractors of 34 to 40 HP. Check the district office for the current number.
For other farmers, the national SMAM norm is the reference. Whether Jharkhand pays an individual under it for a tractor is not confirmed in the sources seen.

Eligibility and documents
- Individual farmers, farmer groups, women's self-help groups, water management committees and LAMPS and PACS members can apply.
- At least 10 acres of cultivable land gets priority. A valid tractor or LMV driving licence is mandatory, and groups with a licensed driver are preferred.
- Documents: PAN card, Aadhaar card, permanent residence certificate, income certificate, bank passbook copy, driving licence, land papers, an Aadhaar-linked mobile number and a passport photo.
- Groups also need proof of membership, a village assembly (gram sabha) copy and a caste certificate where relevant, as one guide lists.
How selection works
One guide reports that half of the tractors are allotted on the recommendation of the MLA and the other half by a district-level committee, which draws up the beneficiary list. This is a single report, so confirm it at the district office. There is no lottery and no token money in the reports.
Application steps
- Go to the district Bhumi Sanrakshan Karyalay (soil conservation office) or the district agriculture office.
- Take the application form in the prescribed format, Appendix 1 and 2 for groups.
- Fill it in, attach the documents above, and get it verified by a panchayat representative.
- Submit between 11 AM and 4 PM. The district committee then prepares the list.
- Selected farmers receive the machines under the scheme, with training for women's groups reported in 2025.
The steps after selection, such as the dealer, the bill and the mode of payment, are not described in the reports. In June 2025, 32 large tractors, 2 mini tractors and 55 pump sets were handed over in Ranchi.
Dates
The last dates seen were 3 July 2024 in the first phase and 30 January 2025 in a later round, and distribution began on 26 June 2025. A fresh deadline is not published. The group scheme reports 425 mini tractors, 165 power tillers and ₹25 crore from the state, with no date.
Contact and next steps
No helpline number is published in the reports. The district Bhumi Sanrakshan office and the district agriculture office are the points of contact. While waiting, compare tractor prices, the on-road price tool, the EMI calculator, the tractor loan page, local dealers, implements and the subsidy finder.
