In Maharashtra a tractor subsidy is paid through MahaDBT, the Aaple Sarkar DBT portal, under the Sub-mission on Farm Mechanization and the State Agriculture Mechanization Scheme. The most specific figure found is a fixed rupee amount per tractor: ₹1,25,000 for SC, ST, women and small and marginal farmers, and ₹1,00,000 for other landholders. It is not a flat 40 to 50 percent of the price.

Some guides quote higher amounts and none of them cites a government order, so confirm the figure for your category on MahaDBT before booking a tractor. Never buy before the application is approved. See the national tractor subsidy page for how SMAM works across India.

Which scheme pays what

  • Sub-mission on Farm Mechanization and State Agriculture Mechanization Scheme: both are listed on the MahaDBT farmer page. A tractor is covered, along with other farm machines.
  • Birsa Munda Krishi Kranti Yojana: a scheme for tribal farmers, also listed on MahaDBT.
  • Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Krishi Swavalamban Yojana: named by one guide as the scheme for SC farmers.

The horsepower band covered is not stated in the sources. One guide says 20 HP, so ask the agriculture office which models are eligible. For an implement, see the implements page.

Need help applying for a tractor or implement subsidy?

Who can apply and what to keep ready

  • A farmer resident in Maharashtra with land in his or her name, shown by the 7/12 extract and the 8A record.
  • A bank account linked to Aadhaar, since the subsidy is paid by DBT.
  • One guide says a farmer who already took a tractor subsidy in the last 10 years is not eligible.
  • Small and marginal farmers (under 2 hectares) get priority, one guide says.
  • Documents: Aadhaar card, 7/12 and 8A, bank passbook, dealer quotation for the tractor, caste certificate for SC or ST, and a passport photograph.

How selection works

MahaDBT has used a draw (lottery) among applications. The October 2025 report describes a draw held for proposals pending for five years. Another guide says a first come, first served rule has replaced the lottery. The sources disagree, so the portal notice for the current round is the one to follow. Check the subsidy finder for other schemes while waiting.

Application steps on MahaDBT

  1. Open mahadbt.maharashtra.gov.in and go to the farmer login. Login is by Farmer ID with OTP. A farmer without a Farmer ID can use the Aadhaar route offered for some components.
  2. Complete the profile: personal details, address, bank account and land details. The portal asks for the profile before it shows schemes.
  3. Choose Agricultural Mechanization (Sub-mission on Farm Mechanization or the State Agriculture Mechanization Scheme) and select the tractor.
  4. Upload the documents above, submit, and note the Application ID.
  5. Complete e-KYC. The 2025 report says 170 applications in Nashik were cancelled because documents or e-KYC were not completed within six months.

After selection

  • Buy only after approval. A guide says the dealer then uploads the tractor details.
  • Upload the invoice for verification, as the guide describes. Status can be checked on MahaDBT with the user ID, and SMS alerts are sent.
  • The subsidy goes to the bank account by DBT. The report notes that over 500 tractors bought around Diwali were still waiting for the money, so keep enough cash or loan for the full price.
  • Rules for the purchase window and physical verification are not given in the sources.

Plan the full cost with the on-road price tool, the EMI calculator and the tractor loan page. Models and prices are on the tractors page, and local dealers on the dealers page.

Application dates

No official dates for the current round are published in the sources. One guide says the 2025-26 window ran from December to February. Watch the MahaDBT home page for the notice.

Helpline

  • MahaDBT farmer helpline: 022-61316429, 9:45 AM to 6:15 PM.
  • The MahaDBT home page also lists 022-49150800.
  • For local questions, contact the taluka or district agriculture office.
