Punjab does not subsidise tractors at present in the department notices found. The Punjab Agriculture Department invites applications on agrimachinerypb.com for implements only, at 40% or 50% of cost, and the machine lists in the 2024 and 2025 notices have no tractor. A Punjab farmer who wants a tractor has to buy it with a bank loan or own savings, and can use the subsidy for the implements that go behind it.
One secondary table lists Punjab as "up to 40%" with a ceiling of ₹80,000, but that does not appear in any department notice, so do not plan the purchase on it. The national rules are on the tractor subsidy overview.
What the Punjab portal subsidises
The machines named in the notices are below. Tractor-operated implements are covered, the tractor itself is not named.
| Notice | Machines named |
|---|---|
| August 2024 (deadline 13 August 2024) | Pneumatic planter, potato planter (automatic or semi-automatic), potato digger, paddy transplanter, DSR seed drill, rotavator, tractor operated boom sprayer, PTO operated bund former, oil mill, mini processing plant, nursery seeder, forage harvester |
| November 2025 (deadline 4 December 2025, 5:00 PM) | Pneumatic planters, multi-crop threshers, sugarcane cutters and harvesters, groundnut diggers, maize dryers, DSR drills for paddy, boom sprayers including high-clearance models, lucky seed drills, power sprayers |
Rates by farmer category
| Applicant | Subsidy | Source notice |
|---|---|---|
| Individual SC farmers, women farmers, small and marginal farmers | 50% of cost | 2024 notice |
| Other individual farmers, farmer groups, cooperative societies, panchayats and FPOs | 40% of cost | 2024 notice |
| All categories | 40% to 50% as per scheme guidelines | 2025 notice |
The notices do not give a rupee ceiling per machine, so the ceiling for each machine is shown on the portal. The 2024 notice said ₹21 crore of subsidy would go out by direct benefit transfer (DBT). The 2025 notice covers the Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanisation (SMAM) and the Crop Diversification Scheme.
Who can apply and documents
- Individual farmers, farmer groups, cooperative societies, panchayats and FPOs can apply. Custom hiring centres are covered in the 2025 notice.
- Documents named in the 2025 notice: scanned Aadhaar card, passport size photograph, land ownership record (fard) and a caste certificate where it applies.
- Cooperatives, gram panchayats and FPOs give Aadhaar details of heads or members and their registration certificates.
How selection works
A committee at district level headed by the Deputy Commissioner chooses applicants by draw where needed. In the Jalandhar draw the Deputy Commissioner said the draw for individual farmers was held on the basis of available funds and targets. That draw gave 57 SMAM machines to individual farmers and 12 to custom hiring centres, alongside 154 and 38 under the crop residue management (CRM) scheme. No token money is mentioned in the notices.
Application steps
- Open agrimachinerypb.com during an announced window and apply online.
- Upload the documents above.
- Wait for the district draw.
- If selected, buy the machine from an empanelled dealer. A guide on Punjab, Haryana and MP schemes says approval comes before purchase.
- Officials verify the machine physically.
- The subsidy is paid by DBT to the bank account.
The portal's menu labels are not given in the notices, so follow the screen.
Buying order matters
A guide on Punjab, Haryana and MP schemes lists approval before purchase as the fourth step of the process. The order is to wait for the selection and then buy, so check the approval letter before paying a dealer. The same portal also runs the CRM scheme for crop residue machines, which the Jalandhar report shows being drawn together with SMAM machines.
Last announced dates
- Applications closed on 4 December 2025 at 5:00 PM in the latest notice found.
- The Jalandhar draw report says applications came in from 22 April to 12 May. The year is not stated in the report.
- The 2024 window closed on 13 August 2024.
- The next window is not published. Windows have been announced through press notices, so check agrimachinerypb.com and the district office.
Contact
No state helpline number is published in the notices. The 2025 notice names Block Agriculture Officers, Assistant Agriculture Engineers and the Chief Agriculture Officer's office as contacts. Your district Agriculture Office handles the draw.
