Telangana does not have a confirmed subsidy on tractors for general farmers. Its farm mechanisation scheme, restarted for 2025-26 according to a Telugu guide, supplies farm implements, and none of the official statements on it names a tractor. A farmer who wants a tractor in Telangana should plan on a loan or on hiring, and use the subsidy for harvesters, power tillers and similar machines.
One Telugu guide lists tractors at up to ₹3 lakh, but that figure is not backed by any state statement, so it is unverified. Check with the Mandal Agriculture Officer before paying for any machine. The national position is on the tractor subsidy overview.
What Telangana says it will supply
- 2021 scheme: the government announced a 50% subsidy on harvesters, threshers, reapers and winnowers, to be supplied through custom hiring centres. It spoke of a ₹1,500 crore allocation and ₹951.28 crore already spent, benefiting 6.66 lakh farmers.
- Cluster plan: a farm cluster wise inventory was prepared for every 5,000 acres, with the aim of lifting mechanisation from 45% to 90% in three to four years.
- 2025-26 restart: a guide reports a budget of about ₹101.93 crore for roughly 1.31 lakh implements, including power tillers, seed drills and weeding equipment.
- Minister's 2026 statement: the Agriculture Minister said that machines which are included in the farm mechanisation scheme can be given to farmers at a 40% subsidy. This was said about loaders and excavators at an expo, and no tractor was named.
- Drones: a March 2026 report says Telangana offers 40% on agricultural drones under SMAM 2025-26, for FPOs and cooperatives, with small, marginal, women and SC/ST farmers as priority.
Rates and ceilings
Under the central SMAM norms the 50% rate is for SC, ST, small and marginal farmers and women, and 40% for others. The scheme earmarks 30% of funds for women farmers and the Centre and state share costs 60:40. The rupee ceilings below are the central norms from the 2018-19 guidelines, the latest set opened for this page.
| Machine (central norm, 2018-19) | 50% group | Others at 40% | Confirmed for Telangana |
|---|---|---|---|
| Power tiller below 8 BHP | ₹0.65 lakh | ₹0.50 lakh | Power tillers named in a guide |
| Power tiller 8 BHP and above | ₹0.85 lakh | ₹0.70 lakh | Power tillers named in a guide |
| Tractor 2WD, 8 to 20 PTO HP | ₹2.00 lakh | ₹1.60 lakh | No |
| Tractor 2WD, above 20 to 40 PTO HP | ₹2.50 lakh | ₹2.00 lakh | No |
| Harvesters, threshers, reapers, winnowers | Up to 50% (2021) | Not stated | Yes, via hiring centres |
| Agricultural drone | Not stated | 40% (2026) | FPOs, cooperatives, priority groups |
The tractor rows show only what the central norms allowed on paper. No Telangana notice confirms that they apply.
Who is eligible and what is asked
- Small and marginal farmers and women farmers who have not had a subsidy before get first priority, according to a guide.
- Documents named: Aadhaar, land passbook or digital copy, bank account details, a caste certificate for SC and ST farmers, and a mobile number linked to Aadhaar.
How selection works
If applications exceed the benefits available, the guide says a lottery decides. The scheme's own selection rules are not published.
Application steps
- Open the state farm mechanisation portal. The guide does not give a confirmed web address, so use the link the Agriculture Department shares.
- Register with Aadhaar and land details.
- Choose the equipment and upload the documents.
- Submit, and print the confirmation.
- Hand a copy to the Mandal Agriculture Officer.
These steps come from a guide, not from the portal, so follow the screen if it differs.
After selection
The purchase window, dealer rules, bill upload, inspection and the way the subsidy is paid are not described in the sources used here. The minister's remark that machines must meet prescribed testing standards is the only rule on supply. Ask the Mandal Agriculture Officer for the current procedure.
Dates
No application window is published in the sources used here. The restart for 2025-26 is reported, but no start or last date is given. The scheme was announced in 2021 and restarted for 2025-26, and the rates and machine list can change with each round. Do not pay a dealer in advance on the strength of a rumour that applications are open.
If the goal is a tractor
- Bank loan: see tractor loans and use the EMI calculator.
- Price first: check tractor prices and the on-road price tool, and compare dealers at tractor dealers.
- Hire before buying: Telangana's route for costly machines is the custom hiring centre, where farmers rent harvesters and other machines by the hour or day.
- Implements: see implements, and the subsidy finder for other schemes.
Contact
No state helpline for the scheme is published in the sources used. Apply through the Mandal Agriculture Officer or the District Agriculture Officer, who is also the contact named for the drone subsidy.
