Karnataka's tractor subsidy is narrow. The one government page reached that lists the rates names a farm mechanisation scheme at 50% for general farmers and 90% for SC and ST farmers, with a mini tractor line for SC and ST farmers only: 90% of the cost or at most ₹2.00 lakh. No page reached gives a rate for a full-size tractor for a general farmer, so a general farmer should plan on implement subsidy, a loan and custom hiring.
Applications go through the Raitamitra portal (raitamitra.karnataka.gov.in) of the state Department of Agriculture. The rates below come from a district agriculture page that carries no year, so confirm them at the taluk agriculture office before paying anything. The national picture is on the tractor subsidy overview.
What pays and what does not
| Item | General farmer | SC and ST farmer | Source and year |
|---|---|---|---|
| Farm machinery under the mechanisation scheme | 50% subsidy | 90% subsidy | District agriculture page, no year shown |
| Mini tractor | No rate published | 90% or at most ₹2.00 lakh | District agriculture page, no year shown |
| Agro-processing units and tarpaulins | 50% | 90% | District agriculture page, no year shown |
| Custom hire centre machinery (Krishi Yanthradhare) | Not a farmer purchase scheme | Not a farmer purchase scheme | District agriculture page, no year shown |
The page does not give horsepower bands, and no ceiling is published for a tractor above the mini tractor class. A December 2024 trade report also quotes 90% for SC and ST and 50% for general farmers on mini tractors, naming Krishi Bhagya Yojana, with a price range of ₹2.59 lakh to ₹9.76 lakh. That report is a secondary source and its scheme name could not be matched to the department page, so the department's figure of ₹2.00 lakh as the ceiling for SC and ST is the safer number to plan on.
Who can apply and what to carry
- Residents of Karnataka who own farmland. The trade report asks for at least one acre of cultivable land.
- Priority: one guide says small, marginal, SC, ST and women farmers come first. That guide is a secondary source.
- Repeat benefit: the CMV360 report says earlier beneficiaries of a similar scheme can be ruled out. Ask the office which scheme years count.
- Documents named by guides: Aadhaar, farmer ID (FRUITS ID), RTC (Pahani) of the land, bank passbook, caste certificate for the SC and ST rate, mobile number and passport photos. The CMV360 report adds a ₹100 bond paper at the Kisan Sampark Kendra.
How to apply
- Register the farmer ID on FRUITS if it is not done, since guides ask for it.
- Open raitamitra.karnataka.gov.in and look for the farm machinery subsidy section.
- Choose the machine, fill in the details and upload the documents above.
- Submit. Officials verify the application and an approval notice follows, as the guide describes it.
- Buy the machine only after approval. The guide says the subsidy is released after purchase.
Menu labels come from guides, so follow the screen if it differs. Another route named in the CMV360 report is to visit the Kisan Sampark Kendra with the paper documents.
Selection, purchase and payment
The department page does not describe how beneficiaries are chosen, so whether selection is first come, lottery or target based is not published. The purchase window, dealer rules, bill upload and verification steps are also not published on the pages reached. Ask the taluk office for the order of steps and the last date for buying after approval.
Application window
No opening or closing dates for the 2026 season are published on the pages reached. Guides say applications are taken in season, with priority for kharif applicants. Treat that as unconfirmed until the office announces dates.
If the tractor itself is not subsidised for you
- Implements: the 50% line for general farmers covers machinery other than the tractor. See implements and implement dealers.
- Loan: compare tractor loans and test the monthly instalment in the EMI calculator.
- Custom hiring: Krishi Yanthradhare sets up farm machinery custom hire and service centres at hobli level through registered trusts, societies and NGOs, so a farmer can hire a machine instead of owning one.
- Price check: see tractor prices, the on-road price tool and tractor dealers. Other schemes you may qualify for are in the subsidy finder.
Who to contact
No state helpline number for farm mechanisation is published on the pages reached. The contact is the agriculture office at taluk or district level, or the Kisan Sampark Kendra, as the guides name it. Ask for the current rate sheet in writing.
