Yes, Chhattisgarh does pay a subsidy on a tractor, and not only on implements. Tractors, harvesters, rotavators and other power-driven machines are covered by the state's Agricultural Mechanization Sub-Mission, run by the Chhattisgarh State Seed and Agricultural Development Corporation. Applications are online on the CHAMPS portal, champs.cgstate.gov.in. The 2026-27 round for tractors opened on 15 May 2026, and no closing date has been published.

News reports give the subsidy as 40 to 50 percent. The rupee ceilings published for the state are not found in the notices, so the table below is the national SMAM norm. National rules are on the tractor subsidy page.

Scheme and portal names

  • Scheme: Agricultural Mechanization Sub-Mission (SMAM, called Krishi Yantrikaran Sub-Mission in Hindi notices), with tractors on the list of eligible machines.
  • Agency: Chhattisgarh State Seed and Agricultural Development Corporation Limited.
  • Portal: CHAMPS, champs.cgstate.gov.in. Counters for each scheme open on notified dates from 10 AM to 5 PM.
  • Other CHAMPS lines in 2026-27: drip and sprinkler under Per Drop More Crop (from 7 May 2026) and diesel and electric pumps under Shakambhari Yojana (from 11 May 2026). These are separate from the tractor line.

Eligibility and documents

  • The applicant must live in Chhattisgarh and hold cultivable land in his or her own name.
  • One member per family can benefit, and a person who has already taken benefit under the scheme is not eligible, as reported in secondary guides.
  • Documents named in the notices: Aadhaar card, bank passbook, caste certificate (for the SC and ST rate) and land papers, that is Khasra and B-1.
  • Guides add identity proof (voter ID or driving licence), a passport photo and an income certificate. Age and income limits are described as set by the state, with no figure given.

How selection works

The notices do not say whether selection is by lottery or by order of application. One guide mentions field verification or a lottery. The official CHAMPS notice for the current round is the place to confirm this before paying anything.

Application steps

  1. Open champs.cgstate.gov.in on the notified date, between 10 AM and 5 PM. A Common Service Centre can help, as reported.
  2. Fill in name, address, land details and bank account details.
  3. Upload clear scans of the documents above in PDF or JPEG.
  4. Check everything, submit, and keep the application number.
  5. The department verifies the papers. Selected farmers get permission to buy the machine.
  6. Buy the tractor, submit the bill and receipt, and the subsidy goes to the bank account by DBT.

Whether a physical verification of the machine is done before payment is not stated in the notices seen.

What the scheme has delivered

Rajnandgaon district records show 610 farmers received tractors and power-driven machines over four years, with ₹5 crore 90 lakh 42 thousand in subsidy. In 2022-23 alone, 280 farmers got ₹2 crore 36 lakh 22 thousand, and the machines included 168 tractors, 26 reapers, 8 combine harvesters and 25 threshers. That is about ₹84,000 per farmer on all machines, well below the ceilings above, so budget for a tractor loan as well. See the tractor loan page and the EMI calculator.

If the tractor is not selected

  • Custom hiring centre: the SMAM guideline gives 40 percent of the machine cost to rural entrepreneurs, progressive farmers and self-help groups, with credit-linked back-ended assistance where the project cost is above ₹25 lakh. The bank locks the assistance for 4 years.
  • Implements only: rotavators, seed drills, reapers and power tillers are on the same CHAMPS list, and can be bought first.
  • Compare cost: check the tractor prices, the on-road price tool, local dealers and implements.

Dates and contact

The last announced tractor window is the 2026-27 round from 15 May 2026. An earlier round for 2025-26 opened on 9 October 2025. A closing date is not published. No helpline number is published in the notices. The Seed and Agricultural Development Corporation and the district agriculture office are the offices to ask. Other schemes are in the subsidy finder.
