rice leaf folder larvae rolled leaves control

Manage rice leaf folder by checking for folded leaves with larvae inside and scraped white papery patches, and spray only when damage crosses about 10 to 15 percent of leaves. Avoid excessive nitrogen and close spacing which favour the pest. Drag a rope across the canopy to dislodge larvae, and conserve natural enemies. If spraying is needed use a recommended insecticide such as chlorantraniliprole or flubendiamide directed at the canopy in the evening. Light traps help monitor moths. In Cauvery delta areas, balanced fertiliser and IPM usually keep leaf folder below damaging levels without heavy spraying.
Rope dragging in the morning works for light attack here. I spray only if the flag leaf is getting damaged.
