best high yielding rice variety West Bengal kharif

In West Bengal, Swarna (MTU 7029) is the most popular high yielding kharif variety on medium and lowland, known for good yield and adaptability, though it is susceptible to BLB and BPH. Other good options are MTU 1010 for earlier maturity, IET varieties from state universities, and Satabdi (IET 4786) for boro and early kharif. Swarna matures in about 140 to 145 days and yields well under assured water. For flood prone areas consider submergence tolerant Swarna Sub1. Choose based on your land type, water availability and local recommendation from Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya or your block office.
Swarna is everywhere in our area. For aman season it gives steady yield if water is there.
In our low lying block near the river, Swarna Sub1 saved the crop the year water stood for a week. The ordinary Swarna in the next field rotted. If you flood often, ask the block office for the Sub1 seed.
Highest yield depends on whether you have boro water. In boro season MTU 1010 and Satabdi do well for me with tube well water, while Swarna suits aman. Pick by season, not just by name.
