How to control tea mosquito bug in cashew (kaju) in the Konkan?

Tea mosquito bug is the most damaging cashew pest in the Konkan, sucking sap from tender shoots, flower panicles and young nuts and leaving dark sunken lesions, with losses that can be very heavy in coastal humid conditions. Manage it with well timed sprays at three stages, at flushing, at flowering and at nut formation, using recommended insecticides and rotating chemicals to avoid resistance, while following label dose and pre harvest interval. Prune to open up the canopy for light and air, and remove dense overlapping growth that the pest hides in. Some Vengurla series varieties show relatively lower susceptibility. Time the first spray with new flush appearance, as early control prevents the build up that hits flowering.
