How many years until cashew (kaju) grafts start bearing and what yield per acre to expect?

Soft wood grafts usually start a small bearing in about the third year and come to good commercial bearing by year five to seven. Full stabilised yield takes longer. A grafted orchard under decent management may give roughly 4 to 8 kg of raw nuts per tree once mature, so at around 70 to 100 trees per acre that can work out to about 4 to 8 quintals per acre, but this varies a lot with rain, variety, pruning and tea mosquito bug control. Seedling trees bear later and give uneven yield. Treat early years as investment years with little income. Verify yield expectations for your soil and rainfall with the local KVK, since coastal high rainfall zones and drier interior zones behave very differently.
