For small loads, share transport with neighbours or your FPO, choose the nearest suitable market, and pack well to avoid damage that cuts your price. Pooling produce with nearby farmers or through an FPO fills a vehicle and splits the freight per quintal, far cheaper than sending a small load alone. Compare nearby markets so you are not paying long freight for a marginal rate gain. Pack in sturdy ventilated crates, load carefully and cover against sun and rain so produce arrives fresh and graded, because damaged arrivals fetch lower bids and effectively raise your real cost. For perishables, move early in the day and minimise time in transit.

Three of us in the village now send produce together in one vehicle. The per quintal freight dropped a lot. Sending small loads alone was killing our margin.

Good packing matters as much as cheap transport. Bruised vegetables get low bids, so the freight saving is lost. Ventilated crates and careful loading keep my produce fresh.
