Cut my Kalmegh crop. How should I dry it so the quality and price stay high?

Kalmegh is generally dried in shade with good air movement rather than harsh sun, because shade drying protects the colour and the bitter active compound that decides the price. Spread the cut plants in thin layers so they dry evenly without mould, then finish until the leaves and stems are crisp. Keep the herb clean and free of weeds and soil, since purity matters to buyers testing for active content. Store the dry herb in clean dry bags away from moisture to avoid fungus. The grade is often linked to the active compound level, so harvesting at the right stage and drying gently both protect your price. Confirm the moisture and form your buyer wants before processing the whole lot.

Shade drying made a clear difference. Sun dried Kalmegh lost colour and the buyer was not as happy with it.
