To link your bank account with Aadhaar for DBT, go to the branch where you hold the account (or the post office if the account is with India Post Payments Bank) and submit the bank's mandate and consent form. The bank then seeds the account with the NPCI mapper, which is what makes it a DBT-enabled account. PM-KISAN pays only into such an Aadhaar-seeded account.
The scheme sends ₹6,000 a year in three installments of ₹2,000 into Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts, as PIB's 20 June 2026 note on the 23rd installment states. The 23rd is the latest released installment; none later has been announced, so this article gives no date.
Aadhaar linked, Aadhaar seeded: why the difference matters
Knowing your Aadhaar number to the bank, or having it on your passbook, is not enough. DBT payments are routed through NPCI using a mapper that holds your Aadhaar number against one bank. Only the account seeded with that mapper receives the DBT. UIDAI states you can receive DBT in only one account, the one you name in the mandate and consent form.
That has two practical results:
- If you have several accounts, choose one and use the same one on your PM-KISAN entry.
- If you later open an account somewhere else and seed it, DBT will go to the newly named account, not the old one.
Step by step
- Check first. UIDAI says you can check your bank seeding status at myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in; the data comes from NPCI. NPCI's own website also has a seeding status page. UIDAI notes it is not responsible for the correctness of the NPCI data, so if the result looks wrong, ask your bank.
- Take to the branch: your Aadhaar card (or e-Aadhaar) and passbook. Documents beyond this are the bank's choice, so ask at the counter.
- Ask for the Aadhaar seeding mandate and consent form for DBT, fill it and sign. Seeding requires your informed consent.
- Get the acknowledgement and ask when it will be reflected. The bank does the NPCI mapping; the time taken is not fixed.
- Check the status again and then check your PM-KISAN record, as described in PM Kisan beneficiary status.
Changing the account on PM-KISAN
The bank number on your PM-KISAN entry must be the account that is seeded. If the number or IFSC on the portal is wrong, the portal has Edit / Update Self Registration under Farmers Corner for self-registered farmers; for others the block nodal officer corrects it. Do the bank seeding first, then correct the portal. PIB describes validation of bank accounts through PFMS and NPCI before the payment goes out, so a mismatch stops the money.
If you have no bank account, or live far from a branch
India Post Payments Bank works through postmen and Gramin Dak Sevaks in villages. A PIB release on its "Aapka Bank, Aapke Dwar" services lists DBT among the services delivered at the doorstep. Ask your post office whether an IPPB account can be opened and seeded for DBT in your area; No fixed procedure is published on the official pages checked, so confirm at the post office.
After seeding
Bank seeding is one of three conditions. You still need e-KYC (e-KYC online) and a seeded land record (land seeding). If you are unsure which is missing, read installment not received. Scheme details are on the PM Kisan page and loans in Kisan Credit Card.
Fake links and OTP fraud
- Seeding is done at the bank or post office on a signed form. Anyone offering to "link Aadhaar" by phone, WhatsApp link or APK is not the bank.
- Never tell your OTP, UPI PIN, ATM PIN or card details to a caller, even if they name PM-KISAN.
- Do not pay a middleman for seeding.
