Borewell water finishes by April and comes back after rains. Is this normal and what to do.

This seasonal drying is common in hard rock areas where shallow fractures hold only monsoon water and empty out by summer once pumping exceeds recharge. The lasting fix is to put back more water during the monsoon through recharge structures so the bore lasts longer into summer. Build a recharge pit or shaft beside the borewell with a silt filter, make a farm pond and check dams in the catchment, and keep the land able to absorb rain through bunding and trenches. Reduce summer water demand by switching to drip, mulching and growing less thirsty crops in the dry season. Sharing water budgeting at village level, as promoted under Atal Bhujal Yojana in notified blocks of states like Maharashtra, helps the whole area recharge. Avoid only deepening, which often dries again.
My bore used to die in March. After I built a recharge pit and a small farm pond it now lasts till May. Recharge really works over a couple of monsoons.
Whole village pumping the same aquifer is the problem. When a few of us added recharge pits the summer level was clearly better. It has to be done together.
I changed my summer crop to something less thirsty and put the rest on drip. Pumping less in the dry months meant the bore did not crash so early. Recharge plus using less, both sides help.
Do not panic and deepen as soon as it dries in April. My cousin deepened twice chasing the falling level and spent a fortune, and it still dried each summer. The recharge route is slower but actually lasts.
Even simple contour bunding in the field above the bore helped me. Earlier the rain just ran off to the nala, now it stands a while and soaks in, and the summer water lasts a bit longer.
