Falling borewell yield usually means the water table is dropping because more water is pumped out than nature puts back, so recharge before you spend on deepening. Build a recharge pit or shaft near the borewell: dig a pit about 3 to 5 metres, fill it in layers with boulders, gravel and coarse sand, and divert rooftop or rainwater runoff into it through a filter so silt does not clog it. Farm ponds, check dams and contour trenches in the catchment also raise the local table over a few seasons. Deepening only chases a falling table and often fails again. In notified over exploited blocks, Atal Bhujal Yojana supports community recharge and water budgeting, so ask your gram panchayat and groundwater department.
I made a recharge pit around my failed borewell and connected my shed roof to it. After two good monsoons the yield came back enough for my arecanut. Deepening my neighbour did and it dried again in one year.
Kolar is very over exploited bhai. Do not waste money going to 1200 feet. Put your money in a farm pond and drip, that is what saved my farm.
One thing people skip is the silt trap on the recharge pit. My first pit choked with mud in one monsoon and stopped working. After I added a desilting chamber and washed gravel it kept recharging properly.
We did this as a group of four farmers sharing one valley. Each put a recharge pit and we made a small check dam in the nala. Alone it does little, together the whole pocket held water longer.
Careful, do not pour dirty runoff straight into the bore casing without filtering. A friend did that and his bore got muddy and the pump suffered. Recharge through a pit beside the bore, not into the bore itself.
