Tomato leaf curl is a whitefly transmitted virus, so the only real control is preventing whiteflies and using resistant varieties, since there is no cure once a plant is infected. Start with a leaf curl resistant or tolerant hybrid like Arka Rakshak. Raise nursery under insect proof net, use healthy seedlings, and rogue out infected plants early so they do not act as a virus source. Manage whitefly with yellow sticky traps, neem based sprays, and recommended insecticides in rotation, and control weeds that host whitefly and virus. A border crop of maize or bajra as a barrier and reflective mulch can reduce whitefly entry. Spacing, balanced nutrition and avoiding water stress keep plants vigorous and better able to tolerate infection. Follow the label and pre harvest interval on any insecticide.

Net covered nursery was the game changer for me. When seedlings go to the field already protected, far fewer plants curl later.

Pull out the badly curled plants early, do not feel bad about it. They will not yield and they keep feeding whiteflies that spread it to the healthy plants around them. Removing them slowed the spread on my plot.

Weeds around the field were my hidden source. Once I cleared the weeds that the whiteflies were sitting on and put up yellow sticky traps, the new flush of plants stayed cleaner.

A border of tall maize around the plot helped cut down whitefly coming in for me, along with the resistant hybrid. None of it is a full cure, but together they kept the disease low enough to get a good crop.
