How to start beekeeping in India and is there a subsidy under the honey mission?

Beekeeping is a low land, low input enterprise and yes there is central support. Start with a few colonies of Apis mellifera in standard bee boxes, place them near good flowering sources like litchi, mustard, sunflower or forest flora, and learn colony inspection, feeding in lean months, swarm control and disease checks. The Government runs the National Beekeeping and Honey Mission, implemented by the National Bee Board, which supports beekeeping development, equipment, training, honey testing labs, processing and marketing infrastructure, often routed through states, FPOs and cooperatives. Muzaffarpur litchi belt is famous for litchi honey, so you have a strong nectar source. Take proper training from a KVK or the Bee Board first, buy strong disease free colonies, and start small to learn handling before expanding.
