In Andhra Pradesh marigold gives quick and repeated returns, but profit depends on the rate, which swings a lot. A typical acre costs around 40,000 to 70,000 rupees to grow and yields about 6 to 10 tonnes of loose flowers across two to three months. Loose flower rates may range from very low in glut to high in festival and wedding seasons, so income per acre can be anywhere from modest to very good. Pick early and at the right colour, sell daily because flowers do not store, and target temple, wedding and festival demand which is strong in AP. Grow hybrid African types for big blooms. Do not bank on peak rates every day. Plan staggered plantings and keep a buyer lined up to avoid distress sales.

Near Chittoor temple demand keeps marigold moving most of the year. I harvest every two or three days once flowering starts. The trick is daily picking and quick selling, flowers wilt fast. My margin is decent but not huge outside festival times.

Quick crop but labour heavy at picking. I hire women for plucking in the morning. Rates went from very low to very high within the same month last year, so do not plant everything at once.
