Is it worth using biofertilisers like Azotobacter and PSB along with my urea and DAP?

Biofertilisers are live microbe products. Azotobacter and Azospirillum help fix or make nitrogen more available, while PSB (phosphate solubilising bacteria) help release phosphorus that is locked in the soil. They are supplements that can improve nutrient use and soil health and may let you trim chemical fertiliser modestly over time, but they do not fully replace your urea and DAP, and the response depends on soil condition and correct handling. To work, the microbes must be alive: use packets before their expiry, store them cool and out of direct sun, and apply as a seed treatment or soil application as directed on the packet. Do not mix biofertilisers directly with strong chemical fertilisers or pesticides at the same moment, as that can kill the microbes. They pair best with organic matter like FYM, which gives the microbes something to live on. Treat them as part of an integrated plan alongside soil-test-based chemical fertiliser. Follow the packet instructions and your KVK advice, base the chemical dose on your Soil Health Card or soil test, and do not over-apply.
