How do I control fruit fly and red pumpkin beetle in round gourd (tinda)?

Two pests common to tinda and other gourds. Red pumpkin beetle, the orange beetle that skeletonises the young leaves and can wipe out seedlings, is worst at the early stage, so protect emerging seedlings, hand pick beetles in the morning when they are sluggish, and treat at the seedling stage following the label if attack is heavy. Maggots in the fruit are from fruit fly, managed with cucurbit pheromone traps, prompt removal and destruction of infested and fallen fruit, and bagging young fruits on small plots. Keep the field clean of crop debris that harbours these pests. Since fruit is picked often, respect the pre harvest interval for any spray.
