Patchwise wilting and drying of linseed plants, often worse where it is grown repeatedly, points to fusarium wilt, managed mainly by wilt resistant or tolerant varieties, crop rotation, and seed treatment with a bio agent like Trichoderma. Damaged buds with poor seed set point to linseed bud fly, whose maggots damage the developing flower buds and badly cut yield, so scout at the bud and flowering stage and spray a recommended insecticide following the label only when needed. Bud fly is often the main yield robber in alsi. Avoid very late sowing, which raises bud fly damage. Take samples to your KVK to confirm wilt versus bud fly and get the current recommendations for your area.

Bud fly is the real enemy in our alsi, it quietly cuts the seed set. A resistant variety and not sowing too late helped. The wilt eased after I rotated away from alsi for a couple of years.
