Which dairy goat breed gives the most milk and is it really worth keeping for milk?

Among Indian dairy goat breeds, Beetal (Punjab and Haryana region) and Jamnapari are well known for higher milk yield, and Saanen (an exotic breed) and Saanen crosses give the highest milk among temperate types but need better management and cooler conditions. Surti and Barbari are smaller but reasonable milkers too. Treat yield as a range, a good dairy doe gives a moderate few litres a day in lactation depending on breed, feeding and stage. The honest market point: goat milk demand in India is niche compared with cow and buffalo milk; it sells well where there is specific demand (some health buyers, certain communities, and a small premium niche), so you must confirm a buyer who pays for goat milk before betting on it. Many farmers find meat (and selling breeding stock and kids) more bankable than goat milk. Buy animals with records and have a veterinarian examine them, and verify local goat-milk demand before scaling.
