Honest profitability and risks of pangasius.

Pangasius can be profitable because it grows fast and gives a high yield per pond, but the margin per kilo is thin since it is a low to medium price fish, so profit depends on high production and tight feed cost control. The honest risks are price dips when many farmers harvest together, rising feed cost which is your biggest expense, water quality problems in dense ponds if you overfeed, and needing ready bulk buyers for a large harvest. In good conditions with a fair price it pays, but a price crash or feed cost spike can quickly turn it into a loss. Do not plan on best case figures. Verify realistic per acre yield, feed cost and price ranges with local pangasius farmers and your state Fisheries department, and confirm your buyers before scaling up.
High yield is what makes pangasius pay, since the price per kilo is low. My profit was good in a normal year but very thin the year the rate dropped. Control feed cost and line up buyers.
