Pangasius, sold as basa, is a hardy catfish farmed in freshwater earthen ponds, and it tolerates crowding and lower oxygen better than carps, which is why it can be stocked densely. You need a good earthen pond with reliable water, aeration support for high density, and a steady feed supply, since pangasius is heavily feed driven. It grows fast and reaches market size in a single crop within several months under good feeding. Because it is stocked dense and grows fast, feed is the major cost and water can foul quickly if overfed, so feeding discipline and water management matter. Confirm your water and soil suit it and get the right stocking and pond plan from your state Fisheries department and local pangasius farmers before starting.

Pangasius is forgiving on water compared with carp, which helped me as a beginner. But it eats a lot, so feed cost and feeding discipline decide whether you make money.
