Popular microgreens with steady demand include radish, mustard, sunflower, pea shoots, beetroot, coriander, fenugreek (methi) and basil types, with chefs often wanting a colourful mix. For volume crops like sunflower, pea and radish you can use ordinary good-quality untreated seed bought in bulk, which keeps cost down, while specialty types come from microgreen or vegetable seed suppliers. Crucially, use untreated seed (not chemically dyed seed-dressing seed) since the produce is eaten raw and young. Match the mix to what your chef and retail buyers actually ask for. Keep bills and confirm a clean seed source; check any food-safety guidance with local authorities.

Pea shoots, sunflower and radish move best for me and I buy those seeds in bulk to keep cost low. The chefs like a colour mix, so I add beet and a little basil.

Use untreated seed only. I once almost bought treated seed meant for sowing, which is dangerous for a raw-eaten crop, so always check it is food-grade untreated.
