Green gram moong MSP rate this kharif season.

Moong (green gram) has one of the highest MSPs among all crops; for the 2025-26 kharif marketing season it was fixed at roughly Rs 8,768 per quintal (some reports state close to Rs 8,780). Rajasthan, especially the Nagaur, Jodhpur and Bikaner belt, is a major moong producing area in kharif. Because the crop is short duration and low input, moong can be profitable when market price is near MSP, but open market rates often run below MSP at peak arrivals, so check local mandi rates and the Price Support Scheme procurement in your state. Confirm the exact current MSP on the official agriculture ministry website before selling.
In Nagaur the open rate at harvest is often below MSP, so I try to sell in NAFED procurement when it opens. Registering early on the portal made a big difference for me.
Grain colour and shine decide a lot of the price for moong. Rain at harvest darkened my crop one year and the rate dropped sharply. I now harvest as soon as most pods mature and dry it on a clean surface, because bright bold green moong fetches the top rate at our mandi.
