Yellowing of new leaves between green veins on citrus and pomegranate in high pH, calcareous soil is typically iron deficiency, because the soil locks iron even when total iron is present. Soil applied ferrous sulphate often fails on such soils, so the better tools are chelated iron (Fe EDDHA type works in high pH) applied to the soil near the root zone, and foliar sprays of ferrous sulphate around 0.5 to 1 percent with a little citric acid or a chelated iron foliar, repeated a few times. Long term, improve the root zone with FYM and organic matter, avoid over irrigation and waterlogging, and do not push soil pH higher. Confirm the product, dose, and number of sprays with your KVK and adjust to your soil test; do not over apply.

On our Solapur pomegranate I wasted money on plain ferrous sulphate in the soil for two years and it did nothing in the limey soil. The chelated iron of the EDDHA type put near the roots is what finally greened the new flush. For high pH soil the right chelate really matters.

Cutting back on over watering helped my citrus as much as the iron sprays. The waterlogged spells made the yellowing much worse because the wet calcareous soil locks iron even harder. Lighter, controlled irrigation through drip and the chlorosis eased off a lot.
