Choose 4WD if you work wet or sloping land, use a front loader, or pull heavy loads where traction matters; choose 2WD for mostly dry, flat fields and lighter budgets. 2WD costs less, needs less maintenance and gives a tighter turning radius for haulage. 4WD costs more but delivers far better grip in puddled fields, wet patches and on slopes, and reduces wheel slip during deep tillage, so it uses power more efficiently in tough conditions. For your mix of wet monsoon land and loader work, 4WD is usually worth the extra spend; for purely dry flat fields it is often unnecessary.

I shifted from 2WD to 4WD because of a front loader. The difference in wet field traction is huge, no more getting stuck during puddling. For loader work 4WD is a must.

My fields are flat and dry so 2WD works perfectly for me and saves money on purchase and repairs. Do not pay for 4WD if your land never goes wet or sloped.

Keep in mind 4WD adds a fair bit to the on road price, the exact gap varies by model and dealer so confirm both quotes before deciding. Also the front axle parts cost more to repair later. For me the traction was still worth it, but go in knowing the running cost is higher.

A caution from experience: do not assume 4WD means you will never get stuck. In deep slush it still bogs down if your tyres are worn. Keep good lug tyres and that matters more than people think.
