People keep saying complete your PM-Kisan eKYC before the installment or your money will stop. Is eKYC a one time thing or do I have to redo it each time, and if I miss doing it before a cycle, do I lose that installment forever?

eKYC for PM-Kisan is essentially a one time verification of your identity through Aadhaar, not something you repeat before every installment. Once your eKYC shows complete or green in your status, you do not normally have to redo it for each cycle. The reason people say complete it before the installment is that the government made eKYC mandatory to receive money, so if your eKYC is still pending when a payment cycle runs, that installment will be held until you complete it. As for whether you lose a missed installment forever, the usual experience is that once you complete the pending eKYC, the held installment is often reattempted in a later cycle, so many farmers receive it later rather than losing it outright. However, arrears are not guaranteed in every case and depend on the scheme rules and how long the issue persisted, so it is much safer to keep your eKYC, land seeding and bank seeding all in order well before any expected installment, rather than relying on getting back money later. Practical advice, check your status on the official pmkisan.gov.in portal now, if eKYC shows pending complete it immediately by OTP, biometric at a CSC, or face authentication on the app, and keep your land seeding and NPCI bank seeding clear too. Do not wait for an announcement, keep everything ready in advance so no cycle is missed. Rely on the official portal for your actual eKYC status.
Mine was a one time thing, did it once and never had to redo. The held installment came later after I completed it, but do not delay, keep it ready.
Best to just finish eKYC, land seeding and bank seeding together once and forget the tension every cycle.
