Ivy gourd is fairly hardy but watch for fruit fly, which lays in the small fruits, and for sucking pests and the occasional caterpillar. Use cucurbit fruit fly pheromone traps and remove infested and fallen fruit, and treat sucking pests only when they build up, respecting the pre harvest interval. The drop in fruiting over time is usually because the vine becomes old, woody and overgrown, so keep it productive with regular light pruning to encourage fresh fruiting shoots, balanced nutrition and manure each season, and removal of dead and tangled growth.
