Little millet (kutki) gives a modest yield of a few quintals per acre on poor land with low inputs, so the return relative to cost can be reasonable for dryland and tribal farmers. The big change is demand, as the millet mission, the health food trend and some state procurement have raised interest and prices for kutki and other small millets. Dehusked clean grain, flour and value added products fetch much more than raw grain. Profit is improving but depends on access to a dehuller and a buyer. Check the current rate, any state procurement and FPO buyers, and ask your KVK for realistic yields and processing options before deciding rather than assuming high prices.

Kutki finally earns something with the millet push, especially after dehusking. Raw grain is low value, clean grain and flour pay much better. Getting to a dehuller is the main hurdle.
