Kodo millet is a hardy small millet grown as a rainfed kharif crop sown from June to July with the monsoon onset, mainly on poor, shallow, marginal upland soils of tribal central India. It tolerates drought and low fertility where few other crops survive, and it stores very well for years without pest damage, which made it a traditional food security crop. Line sowing gives a better stand and easier weeding than broadcasting. It needs few inputs and matures in a few months. With the millet mission and rising demand for healthy grains, kodo has new market interest. Confirm the recommended variety and exact sowing window for your area with your KVK.

Kodo is our old reliable on poor land. It survives dry spells that kill other crops and stores for years without weevils. The new demand for millets has finally brought a better rate.
