Dry red chili yield varies a lot with variety, irrigation and pest control. Rainfed crops often give lower yields, while a well managed irrigated crop in the Guntur belt can give a much higher dry yield per acre. Prices swing strongly by year and by quality, with bright red, low broken, low aflatoxin lots fetching a premium and dull or damaged lots much less. Because chili prices are volatile, do not plan your whole season on a single price assumption. Check current rates for your grade at the Guntur market and on government price portals before deciding. For realistic local yield and cost numbers, ask your KVK or nearby growers who keep records.

The price game in chili is real. Two years back rates were very high, next year they crashed. Keep your drying and storage clean so you do not lose grade, that is the part you control. The rate itself is out of our hands.

Cold storage helped me hold my dry chili and sell when the rate improved. But storage has a cost and a risk too, so do not hold the whole lot hoping for a peak.
