Aeroponics running cost is dominated by electricity for the high pressure pumps and foggers that must run on a tight cycle, plus nutrient solution, fine filtration, nozzle maintenance, and skilled labour. The failure risks are sharper than other systems: nozzle clogging from salts or debris that stops misting to some plants, pump or power failure that dries exposed roots within minutes, pressure drops that change droplet size and hurt uptake, and pathogen spread through the shared solution. Because roots have no soil or even water reservoir to buffer them, the margin for error is the smallest of any growing method. This means you need redundant pumps, reliable backup power, strict water treatment, and constant monitoring, all of which add cost. The honest position is that aeroponics carries higher running cost and higher catastrophic failure risk than hydroponics for similar crops. Only a specialised high value purpose justifies it. Verify power tariffs and equipment costs locally and speak to an operator running a real unit before budgeting.

The nozzle cleaning is a daily discipline. Hard water in our area clogs them fast. If you cannot commit to that maintenance, do not start.

Redundant pump saved me once when the main one failed at night. In aeroponics that backup is not a luxury, it is survival for the crop.
