Yield and income range for tilapia.

Tilapia can give a good yield per acre because it grows fast and converts feed efficiently, and intensive or aerated ponds produce far more than simple ponds, so the range is wide. Profit, however, depends on the farm gate price, which for tilapia can be modest in some markets where consumers are less familiar with it, so your selling price is the deciding factor. Feed is the main running cost. In areas with steady demand and a fair price tilapia is profitable, but in markets where it sells cheaply margins are thin. Treat yield and income figures as ranges to verify against your own feed cost and local price. Before investing, confirm there is a real local market and price for tilapia, and get realistic numbers from your Fisheries department and nearby farmers.
Growing tilapia was easy, selling it well was the challenge. In my area buyers paid less than for carp because they were not used to it. Check your market price before you scale.
