Beginner friendly profitable ornamental species.

For beginners, livebearers like guppy, molly, platy and swordtail are the easiest because they breed readily and are hardy. Goldfish and koi are popular and have steady demand. Angelfish and gourami are a step up in skill. The most profitable choice depends on your local market, since a fancy guppy or quality koi can fetch a good price, but only if buyers near you want it. Start with two or three easy species, master breeding and water quality, then add higher value fish once you have buyers. Avoid stocking many delicate or exotic species early, since losses can be heavy. Confirm which species are legally permitted in your state, since some are restricted, by checking with your district Fisheries department.
Fancy guppies gave me good returns once I selected for colour. They breed fast so you build stock quickly. Master one species before adding more.
