Hydroponic lettuce can work near a city, but go in with eyes open. The upside is clean, soil-free, fast and uniform leaf that premium buyers like, grown in a small footprint with year-round potential. The downside is high upfront cost for the structure, NFT or similar system, nutrients and often cooling, plus the need for reliable power, water quality and constant attention; a power or pump failure in heat can wipe out a crop fast. It is profitable mainly when you have steady premium buyers (salad outlets, hotels, retail, quick commerce) to absorb regular supply at a good price. Treat it as a serious investment, build a careful budget, start small, and verify the numbers and market locally before scaling.
