What season and climate suits arugula (rocket)?

Arugula prefers cool to mild weather, roughly 15 to 24 C, where it stays tender and mildly peppery. In the plains it grows best in winter, while hill areas give a longer window. In heat it bolts (runs to flower) quickly and the leaf turns harsh and very pungent, so the cool season gives the best quality. Because the baby-leaf crop is so short, you can fit many successive sowings into the cool months. It can also be grown under net or in protected beds to extend the season.
