I struggle with anthracnose and the on-off bearing of my Alphonso. Would switching some trees to Mallika reduce these problems while keeping good fruit quality?

Mallika does tend to bear more regularly than Alphonso and carries some Neelum tolerance, so many growers find it less prone to the strong alternate bearing swing and somewhat more forgiving. But be realistic: no commercial mango is immune to anthracnose, and in humid flowering weather Mallika will also need a preventive fungicide schedule from panicle emergence through fruit set, plus a post-harvest hot water dip. The honest summary is that Mallika reduces the bearing-irregularity headache and gives excellent eating quality, but disease management discipline is still required. Adding a block of Mallika alongside Alphonso is a sound way to diversify variety, spread your harvest window, and reduce dependence on a single alternate-bearing variety. Keep separate blocks so spray timing matches each variety. Source certified true-to-type grafts.
Mallika bears more steadily for me than Alphonso, but I still spray for anthracnose. No mango escapes that in our humid coast weather.
