Langra from the Banaras area is well known. Is there any GI tag or branded market for it that gets a better rate, or do I just sell at the normal mandi rate?

The Banaras Langra has a strong reputation and there has been GI activity around mangoes of the eastern UP belt. The reliable premium comes less from a sticker and more from quality and channel: clean, uniform, properly ripened fruit sold through known traders, the regional packhouse, or direct urban buyers gets clearly better rates than mixed mandi lots. Because Langra stays green when ripe, branding and buyer education matter a lot, so a recognised name helps. Practical steps to lift your rate: grade by size, avoid sap burn and skin spotting, ripen naturally or in a ripening chamber, and supply consistently to repeat buyers. Check current GI status and whether you can become an authorised user with the local horticulture department or grower association before printing any GI claim on boxes.
Direct supply to a Delhi fruit shop gave me a far better rate than the local mandi where Langra gets mixed and undervalued. Quality grading made the difference.
