Jackfruit market demand tender raw vegetable chips flour value addition processing selling price India

Jackfruit demand has grown well beyond the cheap roadside ripe fruit, and the money is increasingly in tender (raw) jackfruit as a vegetable and meat substitute, plus value added products like chips, dried flour, ready to cook packs and frozen pods, alongside fresh ripe sales. Tender jackfruit for cooking can fetch a steady price and is in demand in cities and even for export and health food markets, while jackfruit flour and chips command much higher value than raw fruit. To sell well, decide your product early, link up with processors, FPOs, value addition units, urban vegetable buyers, online sellers and chip makers, and harvest at the right stage for that buyer. Fresh ripe fruit alone in a glut gives poor prices, so value addition or tender sales protect your income. Prices vary widely by stage, variety, season and buyer, so treat them as ranges and confirm with actual buyers. An FPO or processing tie up greatly improves what a small grower earns.
Selling whole ripe fruit by the roadside is a waste now. We sell tender jackfruit to a city buyer for cooking and that pays far better. A few of us are looking at chips too.
Our FPO started buying members' tender jackfruit and supplying it graded to a processor. The collective deal gets us a much better rate than selling alone in the local market.
