Chilli leaf curl virus whitefly thrips vector management resistant varieties.

Chilli leaf curl is mainly a viral and disorder complex spread by whitefly and aggravated by thrips and mites, and there is no cure once a plant is infected, so management is prevention. Use tolerant or resistant hybrids where available, raise nursery under insect proof net or 40 mesh, and uproot and destroy severely infected plants early. Control the insect vectors with sticky traps and need based, rotated insecticides rather than the same molecule repeatedly. Keep borders weed free, use barrier crops like maize or bajra around the field, and maintain plant vigour. Avoid excess nitrogen which favours sucking pests. Confirm the currently recommended tolerant hybrids and vector sprays with your local KVK as recommendations are updated regularly.
The nursery net made the biggest difference for me. When my seedlings went to the field already infected, the whole crop was lost. Raising them under a 40 mesh net kept the early whitefly away and the plants started clean.
