How do I check the papers and RC transfer when buying a used tractor?

Paperwork protects you as much as the machine condition. Verify the original Registration Certificate (RC) and confirm the engine number and chassis number on the tractor match the RC. Check that any loan or hypothecation is closed and noted as cleared, otherwise you cannot transfer ownership freely. Ask for valid insurance, and check if the seller is the registered owner or has a chain of papers. To transfer, you and the seller submit the transfer of ownership forms at the RTO with the RC, insurance, ID proofs and the sale agreement, and pay the fee. Keep a written sale receipt mentioning price, date and that all dues are cleared. If anything in the papers looks unclear, get help from the RTO or a knowledgeable person before paying.
