Rain in India, especially monsoon and thunderstorm rain, is very patchy, so a forecast made for a district or block can be right for the area on average but wrong for your one village on a given day. Forecasts are made for a grid or district, not a single field, and a thunderstorm can dump heavy rain on one village while the next stays dry. This is normal and does not mean the forecast is useless. The way to handle it is to use the forecast for the trend and direction, give more weight to the near 2 to 3 days, and learn how the forecast behaves for your spot by comparing it with real rain over a season. Follow your KVK or local agromet unit because they adjust the district forecast for local conditions. For decisions sensitive to rain, such as spraying, keep a safety margin rather than acting on a borderline forecast. Over time you will know whether your village usually gets a bit more or less than the district forecast, which makes the forecast more useful for you.

Our village always gets less rain than the district town because of the hills. I learnt that over a few seasons and now I adjust for it.

Thunderstorm rain is so patchy. One field soaked, the next dry. I trust the next two days more than the later ones.
