I harvested paddy and left it in the field to dry, then unseasonal rain damaged it. Can I claim for this?

Yes, PMFBY has a specific post-harvest losses cover. It applies when the harvested crop is cut and kept to dry in the field in small bundles or windrows, and is then damaged by cyclone, cyclonic rain or unseasonal rain. There are clear limits. The cover usually runs only for a fixed window after cutting, commonly up to 14 days, and the crop must be lying in the field in the cut and spread condition, not already moved to your home, godown or a market yard. The loss is assessed on your individual field for the notified perils. To claim, report the damage quickly, generally within 72 hours of the event, through the insurer toll-free number, your bank, the agriculture office or the crop insurance app, so a surveyor can come and inspect the crop where it lies. If you have already shifted it to storage, this particular cover will not apply. Confirm the exact post-harvest window and notified perils for your state on the PMFBY portal.
Dhan kaat ke khet me sukha raha tha aur barish aa gayi, maine turant intimate kiya to survey hua. Lekin agar ghar le jate to cover nahi milta, ye dhyan rakhna.
