Cucumber mosaic and related viruses cause mottled light and dark green patches, leaf curling, distortion and small misshapen fruit, and they are spread mainly by aphids that pick up the virus and move it plant to plant. There is no cure for infected plants, so control depends on managing aphids and removing infected plants early before they spread. Use yellow sticky traps and reflective mulch to deter aphids, raise seedlings under net, keep weed hosts down, and choose tolerant varieties where available. Insecticide sprays alone rarely stop spread because aphids transmit the virus quickly, so combine them with roguing and good hygiene. Confirm tolerant varieties and an aphid plan with your KVK.

A point: sprays alone never stopped the spread for me because aphids move the virus so fast. Net raised seedlings, tolerant varieties and roguing infected plants together did the job.

Yellow sticky traps let me catch the aphids building before the mottling showed. Once a plant has the mosaic there is no cure, so I pull those first infected ones out early and watch the traps to stay ahead of the vector.
