Improve air movement by training vines on a trellis and using wider spacing, and avoid overhead irrigation late in the day so leaves dry. At first symptoms, spray a recommended protectant fungicide and switch to a systemic if disease pressure rises, alternating groups to avoid resistance and covering the leaf underside well. Remove and destroy severely infected leaves. Choosing tolerant varieties and not crowding the crop reduce risk. Cover the underside of the leaves when you spray, that is where the growth sits. The first time I sprayed only the top and the disease kept advancing. A protectant before the rains, not after the spots are everywhere, made a real difference.

Wider spacing and a trellis did more than I expected. My crowded ground crop stayed damp and the mildew raced through it. Once the vines were up on supports with air moving between them, the disease was much easier to hold.

Remove the worst affected leaves early and take them out of the field. Leaving them on as a source just feeds the next round. Combined with rotating the fungicide group so it keeps working, this kept my crop picking longer.
