Whatever variety you pick, do not skip the thinning. With irrigation and good soil my mustard came up too thick and the plants competed and gave thin pods. After I thinned to proper spacing the next year, each plant branched well and yield improved a lot.

I buy fresh certified seed from the KVK or a trusted dealer each year rather than reusing my own, because the improved varieties lose their edge after a couple of generations. The disease and aphid tolerance of a newer variety has been worth the seed cost on my irrigated plot.

With assured irrigation, the pre-flowering and pod-filling waterings are where my yield was made. I used to give one early irrigation and then forget it, and the pods stayed small. Once I timed the water to flowering and pod fill the bold seed and the yield both jumped.
