How to use IMD weather forecast and agromet advisory for farming decisions?

IMD provides a district level agromet advisory through its Agrometeorological Field Units in cooperation with state agricultural universities and ICAR, and it is the most useful free tool for farm decisions. The advisory is issued twice a week, every Tuesday and Friday, and combines the five day weather forecast with crop specific guidance on sowing, irrigation, fertiliser, spraying and harvest for your district. You can get it on the Meghdoot app and the Mausam app in regional languages, and AMFUs also share it through KVKs and messaging groups. Use it to delay sowing if a dry spell is coming, avoid spraying before rain, schedule irrigation, and act on heatwave, frost, hail and heavy rain warnings.
