Looking for high demand agri products to export.

India's strong agri exports include basmati and non-basmati rice, spices (chilli, turmeric, cumin, cardamom), fresh fruits like grapes, mango, pomegranate and banana, fresh vegetables like onion and okra, buffalo meat, marine products, tea, coffee, and processed items. Profitability depends less on the crop and more on consistent quality, residue compliance, cold chain and a reliable buyer. High-value horticulture (grapes, pomegranate) and value-added spices give better margins but need strict grading and certification. For beginners, processed and dried products (turmeric powder, dehydrated onion) are easier to handle than perishables. Study target-market standards (EU residue limits are strict) before committing. Use APEDA and Spices Board data to pick a market, and never over-promise yields or returns without firm orders.
Do not chase whatever is trending. By the time everyone hears a crop is profitable to export, prices and competition have already moved. Pick something you can supply consistently in the right quality and quantity, that reliability is what buyers actually pay a premium for.
From my grape export experience near Nashik, the real cost is the cold chain and meeting the buyer's grading spec, not the farming. Margins look attractive on paper but reefer transport, pre-cooling and rejections eat into them. Verify the landed cost and the importing country's residue norms before you assume a big profit.
Value addition beats raw export for small players. Selling turmeric powder or dehydrated onion gave us steadier returns than fresh produce because shelf life is longer and one rejected lot does not ruin everything. A small PMFME supported processing unit can make this realistic.
Honest range note: export profitability swings a lot with the rupee, freight rates and global supply. Some years basmati or spices are very rewarding, other years margins are thin. Do not borrow heavily on the back of one good year. Cross check current export prices with APEDA data and a real buyer before scaling.
